Program Options

Early Head Start (EHS) provides services to families with children prenatal to 3 years old; this includes services to expectant mothers.

Head Start (HS) provides preschool services to families with children ages 3 to 5 years.

Center-Based Option

Early Head Start services are provided in infant toddler development centers located throughout Placer and Nevada Counties. All EHS centers are 6-hours, 5-days per week, full year.

Head Start services are provided in preschool settings at various child development centers located throughout Placer and Nevada Counties. Options available are as follows:

  • Part-Day: 4-hours per day, 5-days per week (9-month Year)
  • Full-Day: 7-hours per day, 5-days per week (Full School Year)

Home-Based Option

Services are provided in a home-setting for prenatal women and children birth to 3 years old and their families.

A Home Visitor makes weekly visits to provide comprehensive services in the family’s home. A play group, conducted twice a month, supports children and families to mutually interact in a group setting and to learn a variety of skills and topics of interest important to the educational development of the child.

Family Child Care Home Option

Family Child Care Homes is an option for both HS and EHS. Homes are available throughout Placer County and in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area of Nevada County. Homes are available for a full working day, full calendar year, 5-days per week.
